Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the engine that turns an ordinary business website into a money-making machine. There are a lot of factors that go into good SEO (I could take the entire page to list them), but the most important, most fundament, critical component in SEO is keyword research to understand your market. (Any firm that per-forms “SEO” without doing adequate research is going to be a waste of money.) If you hire a reputable firm, good keyword research can easily cost $1,000-$2,000. Why am I giving all this away? Because my coach told me to! (We’ll see how it works.) On the next page, I will tell you some of the things you will need (the “prerequisites”) for the workshop.
Here are the prerequisites for the workshop:
- You need a business. Although it is tremendous fun sifting through thou-sands of search terms to find market opportunities (at least I enjoy it!), it is go-ing to be much more meaningful to do that work for a real business.
- You need a website. (Or, you at least need to be really close to building your website.) Same reason as #1 above.
- You need a laptop—and you need to know how to use it. We will be using some online tools, so your laptop will need to be able to connect to the Internet wirelessly.
- You should also have a spreadsheet program. I use Microsoft Excel, but if you prefer another program, that works too. We are going to crunch some numbers to filter through your keywords!
